A habit that helps me stay lean

So, after losing about 30 pounds (I went from 185 to under 160 pounds) in 2020, I’ve stayed very focused on maintaining my lean weight, not only for the sake of weight management itself but for my running, which has become my true passion and a non-negotiable daily habit, as I like referring to it. In October of 2021, I ran a sub-three-marathon and I recently signed up for Chicago in 2022, targeting sub 2.50.

I eat healthily but I’m not perfect with food. I do drink alcohol every day, for example; in moderation but I have a drink every night. If I’m at home, I also snack and nibble a lot, especially in the first have of the day. I usually have breakfast around 7. Around 9 or 10, even though I’m not hungry, I continue to grab snacks lying around our house; they vary from small sweets to cheese, nuts, or fruits. I don’t do any diets or fasting.

Anyway, there is one specific habit on which I’ve come to rely quite a lot, especially if I’m away from home but I turn to it at home too.

Various protein or keto snack bars or simply snack bars.

I’ll give one specific example. I’m currently traveling for a couple of days (Washington DC). So I threw a bunch of keto bars in my bag. My wife buys a box of them at Costco; I don’t even remember the brand; they just happen to be keto; I don’t follow a keto diet. During the…
