My weight loss is a sexual turn-off for my wife

“You’re too skinny. Stop losing weight. It’s too much. I don’t like it”, she said as we were making love. I was on top; she was holding both sides of my waist. I was well aware then of how thin I’d become. The sex exaggerated my new body. My waistline got sucked in, my rib cage was all there was in my upper body. It’s not the first time my wife commented on my weight loss in a slightly negative way and it was almost always during sex.

I was pleased actually and joked that my “member” isn’t getting any skinnier.

I’d just run a sub-three-hour marathon. I was supposed to be skinny. I had worked on it. I started losing weight a little less than than 18 months ago, a couple of months into the pandemic. I wasn’t planning a marathon then but decided to get rid of the extra pounds once and for good. It helped that I could do it for the benefit of running, which I had always enjoyed. It took me about 5 months to go from 185–190 pounds to under 160. I ate less and I ran more. I did a lot of interval running, which I think contributed most to my weight loss. I’d do 400 or 800 meter fast laps, rest for one or two minutes and repeat.

It then became a circle — feeling much lighter, I was able to run even more miles and then lost a few more pounds.

It all culminated in a sub-three-hour marathon of which I am very proud (I documented this journey in this note)
