My worst month on Medium in 3 years — is it because of my right-leaning stories?

I’m up 7 followers this month. Seven! Down 2 subscribers. When I started on Medium a little over three years ago, I had zero followers and then:

Now only seven. I’m assuming the number is “net”, so combining new follows and unfollows. Fourteen stories so far this month. There were times where I used to write more frequently, but writing every other day is not a bad rhythm. There is one story where I allowed myself to be very upfront and honest about my sentiment around the election; the rest are neutral for the most part, though their themes point to my ongoing frustration with the trend of many people to be extreme in their views and confident in their moral superiority.

I guess the answers yes — I’ve lost followers. Well, so be it. I’m observing, not complaining. Actually, I’m happy with my seven new followers! I’m taking nothing for granted. I write what’s on my mind; I’m honest. I don’t chase followers but I’m grateful to my readers.
