I’ve made hundreds of thousands from my writing. This is the key to success.

You read that right — hundreds of thousands of US dollars.

I am not bragging. I am still super early in my journey and feel the pressure to improve. I have a lot of unfinished business. But there is no doubt that my writing journey has already been very rewarding. There is a caveat: the rewards were not direct, but their connection to my writing is unquestionable.

Three examples.

  1. Speaking about unfinished business, I drafted a memoir and, as I was working on it, asked a few folks to support my project. I wasn’t asking for a lot of money — just small discretionary contributions if they enjoyed my project. One of them was an ultra-high-net-worth individual and philanthropist who, over the years, ended up helping me and my family with several other endeavors.
  2. In recent years, after failing at entrepreneurship, I’ve been consulting. In 2022, I wrote on Medium about one of my successful deals and received this message on LinkedIn in response:

We ended up working for over a year.
