Writing is my anti-aging strategy, I’m realizing.
It’s not some general notion of staying mentally engaged and active or having a daily habit of some sort. It’s more concrete. The habit is already there; I’ve been consistent. I’m talking about a very conscious effort of observing the world, every day and every moment, including the events that don’t, by default, fall into my sphere of interests.
In general, I don’t lack ideas for my writing. Sometimes a topic sparks interest, I note it and write about it later. I can also sit down to write with no ideas at all and come up with something within five or ten minutes. There is no guarantee that my writing is of high quality, but that’s a different question.
So it seems easy on the one hand. The activity of writing feels natural. But I noticed how writing has helped me become more curious about the world. It doesn’t mean I suddenly have an opinion about every topic in the universe. But I read, I watch, I listen, I observe. Nothing is off-limits. Nothing constrains me — not my social or political views or biases. We all have biases.
I hate the buzz around ChatGDP, but I read about it and have tried it for some work-related matters.
I’m not a fan of polarizing individuals — like Trump or Tate — but I think it’s arrogant not to listen to them carefully and understand what resonates with millions.
I understand why social media can be a pollutant for our minds, yet I am fine occasionally scrolling through many reels, from sports…
