Why, why would anyone spend $3,500 on Apple Vision Pro

I love Apple — don’t get me wrong. I’m writing this on my MacBook Air and my iPhone is connected to it — that’s how I charge my phone. I used to have Apple Watch but I ditched it several years ago in favor of Garmin because I’m a runner. I also use AirPods. I stream Apple Music.

I sometimes allow myself scathing criticisms of new tech. The Humane AI Pin, for example, sounded spectacularly bullshit. Even the name is dumb. I’m thinking about the movie The Human Centipede, one of the most disgusting horror movies ever made. No, I haven’t watched it but I’m aware of its ‘fame’.

Facebook’s Metaverse and Threads were also garbage.

I’m much more hesitant to damn a new device by Apple. The company is too big to fail and like I said I use its devices.

I looked at a couple of reviews and they seemed okay. My takeaway is that Apple’s new device is as good as it gets, considering the world of augmented reality is still very young.

I’m perplexed by the price tag. however. I just can’t wrap my head around it. My question isn’t rooted in the traditional business perspective — you know competition, target market, perceived value, and so on.

I can understand how this device can be used in a narrow professional setting or entertainment — gaming for example. I’m making guesses but let’s say if you’re an architect, you could benefit from working in augmented reality.
