Why I rebel against various Covid related mandates

This will be an emotional note. I will mention a bunch of disconnected themes and justify my sentiment by trying to connect them. But they are disconnected — I know that my logic is flawed. There is no logic. There is only “sentiment”. But I can’t overcome my sentiment. It’s strong.

First, let me mention that I take the pandemic seriously. My parents — they’re in Moscow — both had Covid and they told me how rough (an understatement) it was. My mom was close to calling emergency.

I was happy (I’m in California) to get vaccinated as soon as the vaccines became available.

But the more it becomes clearer that you're not fully protected against the virus even when you’re vaccinated, the more I question the attempts by the government to impose mandatory vaccinations. Part of this sentiment is related to my own perception of how to stay healthy. I really care about staying fit. So, if getting infected is inevitable (I think I had Omicron back in December though I was unable to test — I tried but it was impossible!), I’d rather fight the virus with my antibodies than continue with what seems like an endless streak of vaccines and boosters.

Part of my increasingly rebellious sentiment has to do with the perception of my freedoms being taken away.

But that’s not the point.

The main point is something else.
