Member-only story
Wherever I lived, I was always happy. Stop whining about America or wherever. The grass is greener…
I wrote a few stories, expressing my sympathy for America. I don’t get emotional about the comments I get. Most are positive or neutral. Some are negative or borderline abusive. I get accused of privilege. Sure, I’m privileged in some ways (blond, white, well educated), but in others — I’m not; in fact, I’m disadvantaged — because of my background, my immigrant status, my accent, or because of my mistakes (I could write a hundred stories about how badly I fucked up and I will write, eventually).
This very story is not yet another ode to America.
I am here to oppose the eternal whiners, the-ever-gloomy-let’s-shit-on-this-and-that-country.
Look at this comment for my story about how some years ago my wife pressured me to leave Russia:
From one shithole country to another one.Nice.Enjoy your rednecks.
So what’s not a shithole country for this particular author, I wonder?
You do hear from some authors what’s working for them and I appreciate their stories. Look, if you moved to Spain or Canada or some Caribbean island and are happy, I am happy for you too. No sarcasm. I want to hear your story. Maybe one day Spain will be on my menu of places where to move if the circumstances are right.
