I’ve had a busy day today. Well, actually I’ve been sitting on my ass for the last seven hours. Driving — from Southern California’s Orange Country to San Jose in the Bay area. So the day wasn’t that busy but much of it was consumed by a long road trip.

Let me make a few more notes about this day in my life.

The trip to San Jose was not planned.

If you follow my stories — which I don’t expect any reader reading this to be doing — you’d know that I’ve recently been through a major change in how my family’s life is arranged. At the end of last year, we moved to Florida to help our daughter in her tennis journey. We had planned this move but wouldn’t have rushed it if our landlord in Irvine (California) didn’t decide to sell his house and so terminated our lease. The problem is that my oldest son Maxim is a junior at high school. We didn’t want to create a disruption for him a year and a half before college, so made the difficult decision to live across two states, across two coasts. For the next year and a half, I will be spending a lot of time with my son in California.

What does this have to do with the trip to San Jose?

Well, to complicate matters further, my son is a passionate runner (like I am!) and he decided to change schools (locally, in California) so that he can train with a better team. This morning I was running around between his old school and the new one, finalizing the transfer. The plan was for him to start training…
