Two years of Russia’s war against Ukraine: revisiting my three stories

I’ll allow myself a lazy post today, reposting three stories from 2022 that in hindsight feel still relevant for understanding the past and the future.

I’ll also repost one more store — it is not directly related to the war and was written before it started. I am leaving it as a reminder of how extraordinarily complicated history is. Yeltsin’s legacy is extraordinarily complicated. For all his mistakes and vices, he gave Russia freedom. But he then undid whatever positive legacy he could’ve created — he’s directly responsible for appointing a ‘silovik’ as his successor. Siloviki brought nothing but blood, violence, and death to both the Russian people and outside of its borders.

Thanks for reading me. I also write on Substack.
