I get really disheartened when I read the news like below. I think: this world is fucked up. Some stuff is just dark. There is no God after all.

A few years ago I found out about the murder of my English teacher, Peter Farquhar. English was a foreign language for me but at my boarding school, I chose it as of my A-levels and loved every moment.

My English teacher, Mr. Farquhar, was a tiny man, in his weight and height, with a huge presence. He could be angry, when he was in a bad mood, his egg-shaped face going red, his mouth releasing spit. He could be relaxed and funny, cracking jokes, exercising dark humor, and wasting entire classes on small talk and anecdotes. When he passed away in 2015, I shared his obituary on Facebook, expressing appreciation of his personality and role in my journey of learning English. Then, four years later, the late Mr. Farquhar made headlines again. He was tortured and murdered by a magician psychopath!

You can read about Peter on Wikipedia.

Some of the details behind the murder are crazy. There are articles you can find (and there was even a TV documentary on this crime). Just look at these headlines:
