Twenty “deeper cut” writing ideas
I’ve written over 700 stories since I started posting on Medium in the fall of 2021. When reading about success, I sometimes come across the concept of “output,” and I like it. I never succeeded in the endeavors where I ̶h̶a̶l̶f̶a̶s̶s̶e̶d̶ underprovided “output.” I can’t yet claim significant success with my writing, but by any measure, the output has been consistent.
I find writing fairly easy, but of course, on some days, I struggle with ideas. In this story, I want to make a note of how I’ve managed to generate ideas. Maybe it will help the writers who are starting out:
Write about (in no particular order):
- What angers you. Raging about the latest transgender swimmer story? Leave a note, even if it feels controversial. Today, for example, my mother-in-law really angered me. I’m not going to write a story about it, but I could.
- Share an unpopular opinion. Not for the sake of being controversial, but if you have an opinion different from the prevailing one, be brave and discuss your opinion or doubts. Did you secretly like a video by Andrew Tate? Go ahead, share. I don’t believe you don’t have an unpopular opinion. You’re just too scared to share it.
- What are your life's biggest “loves”? People, places, art creations, food, maybe your job, and so on.
- Your recurring nightmares. Don’t we all have some?
- What part of your life is a mess? Share your struggles and be vulnerable.
