Threads will be a flop, “Mark” my words

I had the same feeling about the stupid Metaverse a year and a half ago:

Well, it did die. Zuckerberg fell so profoundly in love with his fetish that he renamed the entire company and spent billions building something that no one wanted or asked for.

And do you remember Facebook’s digital currency libra? You probably don’t because no one wanted that, either.

Now, the script repeats itself. Thirty million users! Seventy million! Hundred million in five days!

This shit means nothing. The world has seen many overhyped attempts to create new social media or social-media-adjacent powerhouses. Google Plus, Clubhouse, Metaverse. I’m not against the attempts or innovation. I’m against the hype, especially when it’s not innovation but copying and stealing.

Facebook and Instagram are huge — you can’t take that away. So, of course, anything Zuck releases will make the headlines. Of course, lots of people will sign up “organically” for anything Meta releases, especially if it’s free.
