I always strive to be situationally objective and suppress my biases. Let’s say there is a situation involving my kid — say a scuffle of some sort — I will not immediately fall for my kid’s interpretation of the event, knowing that the truth is often in the middle.
I watched the disastrous press conference and tried to be objective. I also watched Zelensky’s subsequent interview with Fox News.
Without going deep into the politics and geopolitics of the situation — which are no doubt complicated and (my biases aside, as I said) I don’t even feel qualified to have categorical opinions on how the U.S. should spend billions of taxpayers’ money when it comes to its relationship with Europe — I found Zelensky — though imperfect, no doubt — humane, likable and emotionally intelligent. Again — not perfect, but certainly not deserving to be bullied in public. Also you’d think the level of empathy and patience for Zelensky’s imperfections should be incredibly high, considering he’s dealing with a tragedy of historic scale. There is no blueprint to defend your country against a powerful aggressor and he showed leadership when he had no help from the West.
That was my opinion. Someone else may think differently. But I’d expect that at least someone — even if they generally side with Trump — would see the situation similarly to me. But no — we have the entire crowd…
