This is condescending. If you don't feel like asking, don't. To each their own. Tipping and donations are an important element of many activities. I try to avoid soliciting but sometimes I do and the support I received really mattered. It didn't weaken my self-worth or undermine my commitment to writing. Also, you know some people are actually homeless, or borderline homeless. Why that elitist attitude?
