There’s nothing cute about Al Pacino becoming a father at 83 or is there

Of course, a disclaimer: how Al Pacino uses his penis or any other part of his body is none of my business. And if he can financially support his indulgences and endeavors in his eighties (or whatever age, for that matter) — so be it; again, it’s no one’s business.

Still, we are here in this life to sometimes gossip and make judgments. I’m here on Medium to make occasional judgments!

So I’ve been seeing the headlines about Al Pacino’s welcoming a baby with his young girlfriend, and I can’t understand how I feel about it.

I am marginally — hold your breath — pro-life. I’m not referring to one of America’s most polarizing debates, though I guess you can’t say you’re “pro-life” without drawing certain associations. I am pro-life in a philosophical and spiritual sense. Because I’m so grateful for my life — to my parents, God, and the universe — I struggle to imagine how I could’ve missed out on the miracle life if someone decided I shouldn’t be born. And it’s not a selfish attitude. I think how a hypothetical individual living an intense, eventful, fulfilling, and maybe very successful life could not have come to this world in the first place through circumstances he or she couldn’t control. I also look at my four kids — their ever-evolving rich characters, and their life journeys, young but eventful already. Of course, you don’t exist, there is no sadness, but I’m not willing to enter that loop of thought. In my pro-life attitude, I was…
