This is the greatest music album of the last 30 years
I don’t dwell on the music of my youth. Of course, I do listen to a lot of songs from my teenage years — the 1990s. But they don’t define my tastes in music. With the exception of maybe hip hop — though I listen to this genre too — I might surprise any teenager with my all-encompassing love of pop music!
There is one record, however, that’s stood the test of time and that’s an understatement.
There are very few days without me hearing at least a song or two from this album.
But it’s not just about that — of course, it’s expected that my favorite songs come up in my playlist.
It’s how I feel about this record. Once every few years, I’d be driving or running and it would overwhelm me — the need to listen to this album in its entirety and appreciate its greatness. It would sound as fresh as ever, as majestic as ever. Timeless.
I struggle to name my favorite song on this album. It used to be the last one. You don’t hear on the radio. It’s slow and dreamy. Back in my teenage years (well, now I’m reminiscing!) I’d often prefer to fall asleep during this song — so enchanting it was and meaningful too with its lyrics that seemed to speak directly to my ever-intensifying life:
