I studied economics at Cambridge. Though I forgot a lot of what they taught me, I was able to apply econometric analysis to my Medium data. Specifically, I was interested to know if some stories perform better because of when they’re published. There is a reason why I was interested to explore this question. I’m pretty impulsive. I’d sometimes draft a story and wonder — should I publish it now, late at night, or wait until the morning.
Damn, this analysis wasn’t easy! I even had to reach out to my professor at Cambridge. Sadly, I found out that he died. But the faculty kindly connected me with Professor Muidem. We immediately connected. Like I am, Jay Muidem is a runner. While I am very orthodox in my running, Professor Muidem runs to have fun! In 2013 he ran the London marathon with fifty toilet paper rolls attached to his body. His 3.42 time was pretty impressive!
