The absurdity of old men re-marrying (Rupert Murdoch)
This story is another installment in the series “I’m such an empathetic person, I don’t judge, but…”. The previous chapter was this.
So Rupert Murdoch, 93-year old, is marrying Elena Zhukova. The name Zhukova sounded familiar when I first saw it. It turns out she’s the mother of Daria Zhukova who was married to the Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
While I’m mentioning Daria Zhukova, let me check what she’s up to. After divorcing Abramovich, she married:
Stavros Niarchos III is the grandson to Stavros Niarchos I, the multi-billion shipping tycoon. Stavros Niarchos III may be famous for the vast wealth the family has, but he is also known for multiple relationships with celebrities and models.
But let’s not go down that route — let’s not comment on Daria’s latest marriage, behind which there is a Shakespearean-scale love story, I’m sure. Instead, let me focus on Rupert Murdoch’s wedding news.
Why would you marry at 93 years old? Why?
Again, I have to mention the cognitive dissonance in my head. Murdoch’s choice to marry for the fifth time at such an old age is none of my business. To each their own.
