Struggling lately with writing on Medium, and the problem is me

This is not a Medium-bashing story. Well, for some reason, my views tanked in the last month and a half; my earnings were lower than in the first two months of writing on Medium which was in October 2021.

When I read about the changes Medium introduced in August, I thought I’d benefit from them. I always focused on sharing real human stories and experiences. I was never a fan of reading the self-improvement stuff, and I never ventured into that territory with my writing. It seemed too generic, patronizing, and indistinguishable from the numerous blogs already written or the ever-growing output of AI-assisted writing.

In fairness, I’ve been writing a lot less frequently. I used to write every day. Writing became my habit, like my running. Now I look at my stories list and it’s only a couple every week. I look at some story from the summer, and it feels like it was written ages ago. I traveled a lot since then and experienced life with all its usual intensity. But that story was “only” eight stories away. The speed of life and my writing are diverging with acceleration which is a bit sad because my greatest stretches in writing were when I reflected on life every day — on my experiences, my personal and professional life, pop culture, current affairs, and various fleeting moments.

What am I going through this uncreative stretch? Is it temporary or permanent?
