Something bothers me about the missing submarine story
It’s a “submersible,” not a submarine. You can find this news everywhere. I found this piece insightful:
Maybe it’s not the right time to muse about this situation. It makes me shiver thinking that, at this very moment, while I’m writing this from the comfort of my home, five people, stranded at the bottom of the dark ocean, are fighting for their survival. Of course, I hope there is still a chance of rescue.
On the one hand, I’ve always been fascinated by how exploring new frontiers is part of human nature, often an irrational one. Throughout history, explorers ventured into the known, risking their lives and often losing their lives. I disagree with the argument, “Why send humans to Mars if there are so many problems to solve on Earth.” I am able to accept that many things are happening concurrently on our planet. I wish there were not a single starving child, but I can also appreciate Musk’s crazy endeavors. One day the human race will inevitably face extinction, and the fight for survival has to start now, thousands of years in advance.
