Serendipity

I’ve been curious about the word serendipity because it has no translation in Russian, my first language. “Coincidence” is a weak synonym. There is another example of a word that doesn’t translate directly — commitment.

I know English so well that I usually don’t need to translate the unfamiliar words I come across. It’s enough for me to understand the meaning. With “serendipity,” however, I had to research for the reasons described — I sensed there was no equivalent in Russian, and I was right.

So, I had a moment of serendipity this weekend.

While I’ve been writing on Medium and Substack consistently, I’ve been thinking about trying other formats and platforms. I’m a lightweight user of Instagram — I don’t post much, but I check it often because I follow others. I’m not at all a user of Twitter. I had an account on Tiktok where I dance naked, but it was suspended.

So I decided to try YouTube. Several people mentioned YouTube to me. I had no clue how to get started, but there is always a first time. So, last night, I recorded and uploaded this video:

Be kind, don’t judge. It was an unscripted ad hoc attempt. I an unshowered and unshaved in the video.
