Satan’s ball: the wedding of Asia’s richest man's son
I try to live by the rule to each his own. It’s none of my business what people spend their money on and what they indulge in. By judging and criticizing I’m harming no one but myself.
But sometimes…
Sometimes I think fucking hell. The human race is dumb, degenerate, evil and Satan rules it. I’m not spiritual but sometimes I can’t avoid these biblical images.
So the guy is spending $120M on his wedding. There will be
200 elephants
1000 crocodiles
200 leopards — reportedly rescued from road accidents and injuries. How virtuous.
Let’s see who’s on the guest list:
Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Hilary Clinton, Sundar Pichai, Ivanka Trump and Bob Iger. Rihanna is performing.
I have many questions. It’s perplexing.
First, how can you enjoy this shit show extravaganza? I’m not against luxuries, but is this really what boosts your manly ego?! Crocodiles and leopards, hundreds of them?
Secondly, there are ethical questions. Again, I am against extreme judgments, like let’s tax the hell out of all rich people, or why plan a trip to Mars if we have hunger on Earth. This is life: many different things happen concurrently. Still, sometimes there is just waste, pure and stupid. The $120M could be spent on many good causes.
Lastly, I don’t understand why Western elites, the likes of Bill Gates, are attending. This is spectacular hypocrisy — trying to save the world, feed the poor, protect the marginalized, and then attending the most lavish and wasteful event possible. I don’t know what life is like when you are Zuckerberg, Rihanna, or Gates, but I’m pretty sure that if I belonged to their circle, I’d politely decline to attend. I wouldn’t be dramatic or write a story like this, but I’d decline. I wouldn’t want to be part of this, not for the sake of my networking and not for the entertainment value which I’d strongly detest.
