Running is like dogs. God’s gift to humankind.
Lucas is our older Boston terrier. He’s six years old. Then somehow ̶b̶y̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶d̶a̶u̶g̶h̶t̶e̶r̶ I got persuaded into getting another one. Astra will be two in a few months.
Lucas is a strange dog. He’s super athletic — loves walking and hiking. But if he’s not active, he’s very calm. And he absolutely can’t play. You throw a stick or a tennis ball — he has no clue what to do. Astra on the hand is so playful, it’s extreme. You can’t even pet her — she runs away, looking for a toy.
My kids adore our dogs and I love them too. I often think it’s a blessing that God created dogs. They are different species, but they’re our eternal friends, loving us always, unconditionally. I’m not a religious person but I sometimes think that dogs were God’s special project to add love and beauty to our lives.
Now onto running…
There are hundreds of sports. Most are bizarre if you think about it — grown-up individuals chasing balls and there are thousands, often millions, watching these activities with excitement and fascination.
Running though… No balls, no pucks, no rackets, no helmets. A human being steps…
