Who am I to recommend how to write?

No one.

But you’re probably not following any blueprint anyway, not writing like Hemingway so why not listen to a stranger with bruised toenails from a lot of running.

In no particular order:

  • Don’t listen to writing advice, including this one. No one knows shit. Even the most successful bloggers will be forgotten. Their success is temporary and reflects their unique path. Yours is unique too.
  • Niche versus no niche? Whatever you feel like.
  • Note ideas. You’ve seen this before. If I don’t note my ideas, I easily forget them. I use my Iphone’s Notes app to record ideas.
  • Quantity over quality. Ok, I’m exaggerating a little. Ideally both. But output matters. More output will help learn and discover, will help improve. I’m a runner. There is no way you can improve without putting in more miles. Of course, at some point, there will be diminishing returns and you need to put in “quality” miles. Still, the foundation is doing enough miles in the first place. More importantly — doing them consistently. My recommendation is to write every day.
  • Write what’s on your mind, not what’s on readers’ minds. Build it, they will come. You can be opportunistic and write something in the “trending” category, but it’s not sustainable.
  • For blogging, you doesn’t need to be perfect. Some spelling, some gramar mistakes — it’s ok; proof read…
