No, there is no other sport more accessible than running

I’ve grown into a fanatical fan of running, so I acknowledge that my notes about running can sometimes be over the top. “Include intervals” in your running is a niche recommendation, for example.

However, there are some truths about running that I consider nearly undebatable.

You never regret a run, post factum.

In your older years you can be a much fitter version of your younger self

Here is another one. This one is trivial. All you need for running is your running shoes. This statement is so overused, so boring that it calls to be debated. In fact, the other day I saw a story that tried to challenge the notion of running being the most affordable form of exercise.

Well, no — there is nothing to debate. Running is the most affordable, most accessible, cheapest form of exercise. The story I’m mentioning made a feeble attempt to go through some of the financial costs of runnings. Of course, there are some costs, but they pale compared to any other mainstream sport, let alone a niche one.

Yesterday I traveled from Florida to Virginia for my daughter’s tennis tournament. From the airport, we went straight to the club where there was a two-hour clinic for kids preparing for their matches this weekend. We hadn’t even dropped our suitcase at a hotel; the club receptionist kindly allowed us to leave it by the reception. I made sure my daughter was taken care of and had a little over an hour for…
