No bad feelings for Musk, but if he took over Medium, I’d (probably) leave Medium
I know Musk doesn’t care about Alexei Sorokin writing a story on Medium about how he’d leave Medium if Musk took over Medium…
Still, it’s an interesting mental exercise. How would I feel if Musk took over Medium? I’m asking this question as I’m seeing the headlines of some celebrities apparently leaving Twitter, following Musk’s takeover.
As I said, I don’t hate Musk. Hating someone successful is not in my nature. You don’t become extraordinarily successful, in business or, let’s say, sports, without hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice. So I think those who rant about Musk (or the like — Besoz, etc) without acknowledging his achievements are often lacking in emotional intelligence. But I don’t worship the likes of Musk either. I’m just not fascinated by modern billionaires. If I were to come up (another silly mental exercise!) with a list of people I’d dream to have dinner with Musk wouldn’t make it in the top ten.
So why do I feel the way I feel?
After all, Medium is a private company too. As a creator, I’m far from having control over my output. I’m still at the mercy of Medium’s staff and ultimately owners.
