My week, full of California (there is no end to love)
Last Sunday: an intense late afternoon twelve-mile trail run in Irvine, Orange County.
I ran into Southern California’s sunset — it’s special. Not every sunset is created equal!
Monday. I had a call scheduled with someone who lives in Los Angeles. I didn’t have to travel to Los Angeles. It could’ve been just a phone call. But I volunteered to travel and meet in person. One of my life’s rules is this: never miss an opportunity to meet someone in person if it’s easy enough. These encounters can be life-changing. It wasn’t that easy for me to travel to LA on Monday morning: my daughter was playing in a tennis tournament in Lakewood, a city some fifty minutes away from LA. So I spent my morning in Lakewood and my wife and I had to be creative about my trip to LA. We only had one car and couldn’t leave our daughter on her own for too long, even though we had fellow tennis parents to look after her in between her matches. It all worked out. My wife dropped me off and I had a lovely lunch in Santa Monica at this place.
Tuesday: Lakewood again as my daughter played her final matches. Then an easy twelve-mile run in Irvine in the evening.
