My memory is improving, my mind getting clearer. Because...
Running will not help me — never — solve my brain’s biggest shortcomings: remembering the names of the people I’ve just met and forgetting where I left my wallet and my keys… Not a day goes by when I don’t look for something around the house. And when it comes to new acquaintances, I really really struggle to remember the names. A couple of weeks ago I was at a corporate retreat. You socialize and you try to remember the names. I tried… I failed miserably. Fortunately, there was a one-page directory with everyone’s name, positions, and pictures. I held on to it like it was my life’s most precious cheat sheet!
I guess it’s in my genes — struggling to remember the names and being unorganized with my belongings.
But when it comes to many other things — remembering people, their faces and life stories, conversations, words, numbers, combinations of words and numbers, making the connections between the above-listed things even when the connections are not direct — I’m pretty good. In fact, I’ve been feeling my memory getting better. There is nothing spiritual about seeing yourself lose weight or observing your muscles becoming visible when you exercise. It’s how I’m feeling about my mind and memory. They are expanding (a bizarre way of describing my mind, I realize…).
