My issue with the transgender debate

I had doubts about writing this story, considering how sensitive and polarizing this topic is. But then we are here, on Medium and in a civilized free society more generally, to express our honest opinions or doubts, right?

For the most part, I ignored Budweiser’s controversy involving the “influencer” Dylan Mulvaney. I don’t drink Budweiser, and I’m not sure my consumption of a particular product would’ve been affected by some advertising campaign.

But then there was noise around Target. Now there is a lot of buzz around Matt Walsh’s documentary “What is to be a woman?” which I haven’t watched and frankly have no intention to. I don’t have time, and my level of interest in the topic isn’t that high.

I do use social media — especially Instagram and Facebook. I don’t mind occasionally scrolling reels and discovering a myriad of topics and personalities.

Inevitably I came across Dylan Mulvaney’s videos, like this cold water plunge one.

Or this episode on coming out as a lesbian.
