My first podcast: thoughts and take aways.

It’s not “my” podcast. Someone I know ventured into the business of doing podcasts. A few months we connected and discussed the possibility of sitting down and talking.

In many similar situations, this exchange of pleasantries would have been forgotten. You say you’d do something together, but your plan never sees the light of day.

But I followed through on my intention. In fact, I drove from Southern California’s Orange County to the Bay area just to do this podcast. Not that it’s a crazy long drive, but it’s meaningful — seven hours one way.

Public speaking is not my thing. Let me elaborate: I am terrified of public speaking. Never eloquent, never articulate, and a little insecure about my accent. A podcast is not public speaking, but it falls into the category of speaking. Not my thing.

Why did I decide to do it? Well, I’m interested in the media and content space in general. I’d love to build something meaningful in this industry — I guess I mean building a business, though the word business sounds a bit too narrow. My writing on Medium in the last year and a half have been the first step…
