English is not my native language, but I like it! I want to improve at it too.

Not that I am an avid Instagram user, but today for the first time one of the ads in my feed caught my attention. I downloaded the advertised app. It’s called Vocabulary. It’s very simple — every now and then it shows your fancy words. Like this:

It sends notifications to my phone’s screen too, like this:

The free trial is three days, then it’s twenty bucks a year. Yeah, I’m suggesting you visit my KoFi page, and help me improve my poor English.

So far today it’s shown me several words and all were new to me.

I’m liking this app. There is a problem though — I know already I won’t remember most of these words. For all my curiosity, it’s not that trivial to memorize these words, let alone use them in my writing. Perhaps Vocabulary should introduce some of kind weekly testing. I’d do it! Spend five minutes doing the test.

More generally, I do try to note every unfamiliar word I come across. It doesn’t mean it will enter my vocabulary but if I see it often enough — it will.
