Middle age: we’ve only just begun!
I love running and get up pretty early but I don’t like running in the mornings.
Yesterday though I had a very early morning run. I started at 5.50 am and ran eleven and a half miles in Delray Beach:
The first few miles were slow and but then I warmed up. Around mile eight, this song by the Carpenters came up in my headphones:
Actually, I’d never seen the video for this song until just now. The performers look so … sixties or seventies! A little creepy!
But I love the song a lot. Its lyrics reminded me I wanted to write a story about middle age!
Before the risin’ sun, we fly
So many roads to choose
We’ll start out walkin’ and learn to run
(And yes, we’ve just begun)
And when the evening comes, we smile
So much of life ahead
We’ll find a place where there’s room to grow
And yes, we’ve just begun
