I've always enjoyed the grotesque type of violence in pop culture (think Tarantino). Maybe not "enjoyed", but was okay with it. My thinking is that there is a dark side to humanity (violence, aggression, temptations) which we contain for the most part but often it still spills out - people engage in deadly wars for example. So it's better to channel it into entertainment (sports) and pop culture
