I recommend this sports drink

I could never imagine I’d write a post like this, because I’m not into sports drinks. On a hot summer day or after a very intense run, I might grab a Gatorade — at our house we usually have a box from Costco because my kids do sports, but I wouldn’t call Gatorade or similar drinks part of my running lifestyle. Coffee is. I have many cups (black, no sugar) every morning and always before my races. Beer is. Yes, beer! If I run in the afternoon or evening, I’d always enjoy a beer after my run.

This new drink, however…

I discovered it accidentally. I was with my oldest son and for lunch we grabbed groceries at a local store. Later in the day I opened the fridge and saw this nasty-looking can of something that my son had bought for himself. I took a few sips. Then took a few more sips. I kind of liked it. It was carbonated and tasted sweet but there was no sugar in it — at least it said so on the can. Normally I would’’t touch high sugar drinks.

We then went on another errand and something felt strange in my body. My skin was tingling and my scalp itching, making me massage my hair violently.

I was getting a little worried. I was driving then. Was something wrong with my blood circulation? Was it an allergy? I assumed the latter. I’d eaten the most trivial things on that day, but then occurred to me — it must have been the drink.

I did remember its name and started googling (while still driving, sorry!)
