I love social media
The story I will never write: I deleted my social media accounts and was social media sober for 365 days. This is how my life changed.
I am not going to check my phone’s stats but I spend plenty of time on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Strava.
Here’s one example of why I love social media. Because I’m a runner! Yeah, you read that right. I’m a passionate amateur runner and I follow the accounts of many pro runners. I love them! I just saw an Instagram story by Grant Fisher, one of the brightest young stars in America’s middle-distance running. I then forwarded the screenshot of Grant Fisher’s story to my son, who’s a runner — we often argue about nutrition:
I love following other awesome runners on social media: Keira D’Amato for example (America’s women’s marathon record holder) or Jacob Ingebrigtsen.
But it’s not just about following athletes and celebrities. Several times my social media connections and interactions proved life-changing and I’m not exaggerating. When I was networking about a potential move to America a decade ago I reached out to one of my acquaintances on Facebook. That was my only connection with him — Facebook. I ended up getting an interview in Silicon Valley and getting a job.
