I had a meeting in downtown L.A.

Before it, during and after it, I felt this: L.A. is my soulmate.

Sounds cheesy?

“Soulmate” usually refers to people but I’m applying to a city.

L.A. felt like my soulmate.

I’m sure most people won’t understand what I’m talking about. I know though what I’m talking about.

I’m a moderately creative person. I blog, I love pop music, I love all things pop culture but it’s not like I come from the entertainment industry. Not at all.

But, oh boy, do I connect with L.A. Some experiences in life are borderline spiritual. You find yourself with someone, or somewhere, or in some situation and you think — this is special, this is unique. If not in this life, then in some parallel universe, I belong here.

My meeting was in Soho Warehouse on 1000 S. Santa Fe Avenue.

Was it pretty or picturesque where I was? Absolutely not. Not your typical downtown, like in New York City. Lots of graffiti, and many buildings looked abandoned or depalidated.

But it was so cinematic, so authentic, so … I’m struggling for adjectives… American? Californian?

The club where I had my lunch and meeting was awesome. Throughout my life I’ve been to quite a lot of exclusive places, restaurants and…
