I enjoyed Avatar.
“You give anyone a billion dollars and fifteen years and they’ll create a decent movie,” my oldest son said as we came out of the movie theater on Christmas Eve.
He’s always the grumpy one. He seems incapable of judging a piece of pop culture on a standalone basis. He has to compare Taylor Swift to Pink Floyd (obviously favoring the latter) and any movie to “Godfather”. “Breaking Bad” is a masterpiece according to him.
He then mentioned how Avengers, Infinity War is better than the latest Avatar installment.
I agree with him on that one. The ending in that movie was one of a kind. Everyone dies. Well, every other person dies. It stuns you. You walk out of the movie theater feeling bewildered.
Now I was never a fan of the first Avatar. I’m just not a fan of the fantasy genre in general. Lord of the Rings, Avatar, and the like — not my thing.
But today we all went to see Avatar, The Way of Water. It’s a must-see movie, it felt.
My expectations were low. As I said, I’m bored with the genre. I expected to be bored. I made sure my phone was charged so that I had something to do during the movie.
In the end, I enjoyed it.
