I continue to run. This unusual running advice caught my attention

I’ve been so consumed by following the war in Ukraine that I got distracted on multiple fronts — work, sleep, attention to my family. But running has stayed my mental “refuge” (an unfortunate pun). In the last two weeks, I’ve reduced my mileage and taken extra days off because of the lingering pain in my lower calf but my habit of running continues to support my mental and physical health.

If you’ve ever run a major race — say, a marathon or half marathon, you will have received race photos.

I purchased mine from my first sub-three-hour marathon race in October 2021 but didn't bother with my 1.19 half marathon a few weeks ago.

You know why? Not because I couldn’t spare $40 bucks to keep memories of what was actually an awesome race.

Because in all of the pictures I look… hell ugly. Not that I’m an Instagram celebrity but my face in those pictures is … hm… ugly, lacking any signs of joy. I love running. Of course, you go through pain when you run races and or do hard sessions, but it can’t be that ugly!
