I agree in general. LInkedIn especially is a humble bragging dumpster. But I think there is no "right" or "wrong" job. There are builders, writers, bloggers, policians, speakers, etc. To each his own. If they found a way to have their voices heard - fine, give them credit; they have a skill after all
