Person X goes into great effort to prolong his cancer-suffering pet’s life. Person Y euthanizes his pet under the same circumstances to stop the pain.

President X is soft-spoken but fails to use his power to rain hell on another country’s dictator who’s inflicting suffering on others.

President X is tough in dealing with another country’s dictator but fails to help the needy in his country.

Person X helps a homeless person. The homeless person spends the money on drugs.

Person X is against racism and bigotry but thinks that a huge group of the population are homogeneous in their moral inferiority.

Person X leaves his continent/country/planet in search of a new beginning and to open a new frontier for future generations. Person Y stays in his place to reverse the decline or overcome problems — also for the sake of the bright future of next generations.

Person X talks about kindness and love but has never donated a dollar to a charitable foundation, or a person in need. In relative terms, he’s donated less than a deplorable ultra rich person.

Person X is just a nice person, period. Broke though because of spending habits and not repaying debts.

Person X decides to support Person Y (or not protest against) who’s a deplorable asshole but can help support a charity that fights child cancer.
