How do you want to be described in your obituary?
Thinking about our obituaries — wouldn’t it be the best way to really understand our true calling and set the corresponding goals? Forget what you are now, or what you were, or what you have been (dammit, am I practicing my English grammar? maybe I am!). Think big.
I’m not talking about our personal qualities. Surely, we all want to be remembered as good partners and parents. As likable individuals.
Let me dig into my heart and brain.
He was a prolific…
It’s not that easy!
I like the word prolific.
But then there are several nouns that I want to apply to my identity and they are different.
A runner. A long-distance runner. I love running if you read my stories. I’m not that good yet, but I want to be that guy in the Guinness Book of records who ran a sub-three-hour marathon at the age of eighty.
Author. I was going to say “writer” but that’s a very big word. I want to author a few non-fiction books. And I want to be a prolific blogger. Well, that’s a very unglamorous word but I’m not sure there are good synonyms.
That’s not it. I think I’m entrepreneurial. I failed at several endeavors so far and I’m starting to doubt my entrepreneurial abilities. But I will try again sooner or later — being an entrepreneur. It will have to be something I feel passionate about. I’m interested in publishing, entertainment, media, pop culture…
