Hi Jonnie. Thanks for your response. I don't get offended at all. You're right - the Russian people put Putin in power. Moreover, most of them support the war. To that end I do believe in collective responsibility (in fact, in some of my stories I said it applies to me and my family to even though I left Russia some years ago; forever, I'll have to live with shame and if someone decides to scold me for belonging to the nation that inflicted so much pain - I'll have to swallow it). However, it doesn't stop me from feeling empathy for many individual Russians, whether athletes or entrepreneurs or oridnary people, who are facing this backlash, despite having nothing to do with the regime, certainly not supporting it (and often opposing).
