Getting back to bed after the initial getting up is my thing

Is it because I’m an introvert? It’s a hypothesis, though maybe I’m overanalyzing.

Surely this habit is not what super-productive people do. They wake up early and get their day going without any interruptions. They’re all empowered and clear about how they will spend their day.

I’m not like that. I have a messed up gearbox. Sometimes I get up very early because my projects involve working with different time zones, but that’s not my excuse for returning to my bed in the mornings.

I get up and do the chores I can’t avoid — take my kid to school or have a work call. I have my coffee and breakfast. I love my breakfast.

Sometimes I even go for a run early in the morning. I run every day, but I prefer running in the afternoons and evenings.

And then I stall. My gearbox goes back to parking. That means going back to bed. I don’t mean taking things easy. I mean going to bed and taking a nap. It’s not because I had a bad night’s sleep, though sometimes I do experience disruptions to my sleep.

It’s because while the rest of the world is waking up, I feel strongly like doing the opposite — escaping all the noise and hurriedness.

It’s a trait that’s not easy to manage. If my family is around, it feels strange to be in bed late in the morning. I feel guilty. So my best mornings are when no one is around me. Then it’s truly cozy — just me dozing off, dreaming again…
