This sacred rule I always follow and recommend

You, yes you, are reading this because two strangers, most likely complete strangers, decided to stop being strangers. Whether through active effort or circumstances, they got their butts off their couches, creating conditions for interacting with another human being. Creation followed. Well, maybe creation followed on that same couch…And maybe it’s all a little less glamorous but you’d not be reading this if there was no effort of one human being interacting with another one. You’d be the definition of nothingness.

It’s like that with most other things in life. Meeting another human being very often leads to creation. Maybe not immediately, most often not immediately, sometimes years later, many years later but interacting on a brief phone call, over a coffee, or wherever leads to Creation.

Now, let me note — I’m an introverted m**f**. I made a few close friends at college but in general, I tend to avoid people. I hate corporate retreats and social events. I made good friends in my adult life only because my wife dragged me out. She’s great at making friends with fellow moms and families. We’d get together, and often become close — hike together, go on vacations and maintain real friendships across decades, states, and countries.

Over the years these interactions and some other ones that I actively facilitated (despite being introverted) led to life-changing experiences and helped find solutions to the most difficult situations. Without these interactions, I’d be a miserable mole…
