Face/Off is the best action movie!
I wrote a couple of movie stories recently.
The other night I watched Face/Off with my daughter. “What good action movies are there?”, she asked.
I suggested Face/Off.
This is one of those movies I can watch again and again, and if enough time passes, like a couple of years, I watch it with refreshed interest.
I noticed that many 1990s movies, even the better ones, can feel a little outdated, especially when watching with kids. The quality of the picture feels archaic. But not Face/Off. It aged well, I think.
I am not sure the word “masterpiece” can be applied to a Hollywood-style action blockbuster, but I’m tempted to call Face/Off a masterpiece.
One of my criteria for judging actors is the versatility of their roles. For example, Tom Hanks mostly plays good guys. I get a little bored with him.
The versatility of acting is extreme in Face/Off by the very design of the movie…
