Do you feel embarrassed about your alma mater (Harvard)?
One of my close friends asked this question recently, referring to the now-infamous congressional hearing involving the president of Harvard, UPenn, and MIT.
My friend and I are graduates of Cambridge, by the way. We both studied Economics for our undergraduate degree. I also have the Harvard brand on my resume, thanks to the MBA program that I did in my mid-twenties. The point is not to brag — well, I guess I just did — but to point to the potential weight of his question. My friend wanted to hear my honest opinion.
I had a straightforward answer.
I couldn't believe my ears when I heard the testimonies. They were tone-deaf and anti-semitic. The smirks made them worse.
But no, I don’t feel any embarrassment. Zero.
Apparently, the applications to Harvard are down by 20% because of the ongoing scandal.
