Brick & mortar business ideas I have
Some weeks ago I wrote about my start-up ideas. Start-up is a “techy” term so in that story I mostly wrote about technology businesses, though any business is a start-up in its early days. Also these days brick & mortar and technology are often married so the contrast doesn’t have to be dramatic. But I do want to drop a few ideas about more traditional businesses. I must admit I don’t feel confident about them. I mean I get a lot of ideas. But I also know — from my own experience — how difficult it is to execute them; moreover, a lot of ideas are a product of our imagination and hobbies. It’s very likely there is no market for them.
Nonetheless:
- Running boot camps for kids. Running is my life’s biggest passion. It’s a hobby but I want to make a career out of it. Yes, that’s right — a career. I have different ideas and am already working on some. I’m planning for example to launch a running publication in collaboration with the marathon world champion in 55+ age group (read this story). My family is a “tennis family” and we already have some experience with running activities for kids. My wife has a small group of kids she coaches tennis and twice a week they have running boot camps.
- Traditional newspaper or magazine. Why in the world would one want to start something in this dying industry, you might think? Well, I am thinking…
