Best things about America

I recently wrote about the worst things, now the opposite! Based on my experience. This is more concrete than my poetic love letter a few weeks ago! I’m trying to stay apolitical.

  • Mobility. Don’t like California and how lefty it is? Move to Texas! Don’t like Chicago’s weather? Move to Florida! These hypothetical scenarios are numerous. You can move coasts, states, and cities for education, work, business, taxes, your weather preferences, stages of life or to be closer to your partner, without sacrificing your lifestyle. There will always be pluses and minuses, but the standard of living is unlikely to change dramatically. There are dozens of places to choose from. You just don’t have this optionality in other countries.
  • National parks. This list is not in any particular order, but America’s national parks would score very high on it! I’ve been to about a third, mostly in the West of the country. Each one was a very authentic experience. The actual sites were special — by their nature (no pun intended!), and also it’s hard not to appreciate the effort that has gone into preserving and maintaining these special destinations. Death Valley is my favorite one; it felt alien and otherworldly. Yellowstone is #2 (had a nerve-racking adventure while in Yellowstone!)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. This one is from the plane of cliches and stereotypes, but I find the country and its people very entrepreneurial. It’s something in the nation’s DNA. From small business owners to Elon Musks of this world, there is a willingness to build…
