A mediocre day but my youngest kid had the best day of his life!

I was finishing my zoom call when I heard a scream outside. I was worried for a fraction of a second but I could tell there was no pain in the scream. The sound was that of surprise and excitement. It came from Tim, my youngest son. Tim of one of our twins (younger than his sister by a few moments!). He’s ten years old.

Tim loves fishing. I have four kids but I don’t recall any of them being as serious about any of their hobbies as Tim is about fishing. I don’t remember how and where it started. Maybe in Texas where we lived for a few months three years ago. There was a small river there where my kids would fish. It helped a lot that my stepdad, who’d visit from Russia twice a year, knew a thing or two about fishing.

In this picture, it’s not Tim but my second son (Valentin) fishing with my stepdad (Petr).

Then we lived in California and my wife arranged a deep-sea fishing trip when it was my stepdad’s birthday. No fish was caught.

Then we moved to Florida and the hobby of fishing continued. This one from a few weeks ago was a big success:
